We have invested £3.8 million in not for profits through a combination of schemes across the company. This was on par with our contributions in 2011. The table below shows how we have supported the sector.

We provide expertise and assistance for community projects, which amounted to the equivalent of 1718 days with a commercial value as a gift in kind. (1250 days: 2011)

We have actively invested employees in skills based volunteering including our ‘Money Money Money’ programme, mentoring and school governors. This year 29 employees volunteered during the Olympics. We calculate our value at £21 an hour.

We fund community projects around our main locations which our employees who live locally have been involved in nominating.

Following our interpretation of the UK Bribery Act, all charity requests for a donation from any business relationship have stopped.

We encourage the development of corporate governance skills through our school governor programme. This year 67 employees and 71 schools received our support through a maths grant. (62 schools in 2011)

Of this total, $560,991 ($521,693 in 2011) was given as matching contributions to our annual charity drive. This means the total raised for the campaign (company match and employee contributions) totalled: $1,121,982. The proceeds of the campaign benefited over 250 charities. In addition to the annual charity campaign, LGA donated an additional $88,600 in general donations and matching gifts to charities such NAILBA Foundation, Frederick Memorial Hospital, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Cancer Society, Urbana Fire Department, Meals on Wheels, The Weinburg Center for the Performing Arts, etc.
